Don's legacy is one of unwavering love, compassion and dedication, and he left a profound impact and lasting warmth. He was the embodiment of a life well-lived, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have known him. A brilliant mind and a devoted heart, Donald's journey took him through diverse paths, each marked by his unrelenting pursuit of excellence and his genuine care for those around him.

A man of diverse interests, Don found solace and satisfaction in restoring antique lamps and collecting antiques, showcasing his knack for preserving history and beauty. His technical prowess knew no bounds; there was little he couldn't mend, build or create. His ability to fix almost anything was a testament to his resourcefulness and unquenchable curiosity. Don was not just a professional and a craftsman; he was a devoted family man.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Willis Shields; his mother, Esther Leola Louise Weigle Shields; and first wife, Patricia Ann Lydon.
