Sandra Grace Smith, Sharon Martha Smith and Susan Ann Smith entered the world in that order and just several minutes from one another, and each would go home in that order — but in much larger time increments.

Their mother, Natalie Smith, gave birth to the triplets eight weeks prematurely on July 13, 1970 at Butler County Memorial Hospital. They were the first set born there in 22 years.

Sandra Grace weighed 3 pounds, 4 ounces at birth; Sharon Martha weighed 3 pounds, 1 ounce; and Susan Ann weighed 3 pounds, 4 ounces at birth. By Sept. 2, 1970, Sandra Grace weighed 5 pounds, 7 ounces, and was allowed to leave the hospital. Sharon Martha weighed 5 pounds, 4 ounces; and Susan Ann weighed 4 pounds, 12 ounces.

The triplets brought the family of three to a family of six.
