The Butler VA will host its third annual Veterans Creative Arts Competition and Festival on Sept. 14 at the American Legion Post 778 in Butler.

Its organizers are asking for local submissions by veterans with a deadline of Sept. 1.

The competition includes five divisions: music, art, creative writing, drama and dance; and it aims to recognize the progress and recovery made through creative therapies, and to raise the visibility of creative achievements of veterans.

All first place winners in the Butler VA’s local competition advance to compete in the National Veterans Creative Arts Competition. From there, all first place winners are invited to the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival in April 2024. All expenses are paid for the veteran to attend the national events.

The Butler Creative Arts Competition and Festival event will take place from 1 to 7 p.m. Sept. 14 at American Legion Post 778.
