Shirley Raimondi

Raimondi

Shirley Elizabeth Raimondi (Leitem), 84, of Venice, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, after a second courageous battle against cancer.

Mrs. Raimondi was most well known as the proprietor of the Dollar Stretcher Market in Butler, which was opened by her husband, James Raimondi Jr. in 1958. Whether you bought or received one of Shirley's fruit baskets or sought out a painted pumpkin at Halloween, so many were touched by Shirley's art.

Born in Butler on Sept. 16, 1938, Shirley was the youngest of five siblings born to Bessie (Brown) and Carl Leitem. She attended St. Peter's School and graduated from Butler High in 1956. Soon after, she met her husband, James Raimondi, and they were married Sept. 5, 1957. They had four children. In addition to being a business owner, Shirley also was a homemaker and expert seamstress.

After her retirement, Shirley moved to South Venice and took all of her favorite things with her. She enjoyed crochet, bird-watching, gardening, dancing and live music, cards with her friends and of course — the beach!

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Raimondi Jr.; daughter, Rosemarie Raimondi; and four siblings, Edward Leitem, Carl Leitem, Mary Noullet and Paul Leitem.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of so many warm and meaningful memories. She is survived by her three children, Annette Murray (Victor) of Exton, Pa., Lena Connell of Chicora and Michael Raimondi (Pat Eaton) of Northport, Fla.; five grandchildren, Andrew Connell of Ypsilanti, Mich., Lucy Murray of Dallas, Texas, Brian Eaton of Pittsburgh, Emily Murray (Dave Mezaros) of San Diego, Calif., and Alex Connell (Jennie) of Polk, Pa.; one great-grandchild, Bennett Cooper Connell of Polk, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

RAIMONDI — A memorial service in Butler for Shirley Elizabeth Raimondi (Leitem), who died Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, will be announced on Facebook.

Memorial donations may be made to Marie Selby Gardens in Sarasota, Fla., of which Shirley was a member.
