Slippery Rock man accused of sexually assaulting 2 girls

Man additionally charged in Mercer County

State police accused a Slippery Rock man of sexually assaulting two girls, one of them over a period of several years, according to charges filed Thursday, Aug. 17.

Timothy P. Blodgett, 38, faces two sets of felony charges in connection to the alleged assaults. Court documents showed he was also charged in Mercer County with similar allegations.

In one case, Blodgett was charged with felonies involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and rape of a child.

State police in Mercer Conuty said a ChildLine report was received from Mercer County Children and Youth Services on July 11, detailing Blodgett’s assault of two minors in Summit Township, Butler County.

The girls were interviewed that same day, police said.

Documents showed that one girl disclosed Blodgett started assaulting her when she was 8 years old at a home in Summit Township.

Police said the first alleged assault occurred after Blodgett and the girl went swimming, and the assaults continued until she was 13 years old.

In the second case, Blodgett was charged with felonies involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, corruption of minors, indecent assault and dissemination of explicit sexual material.

Police said a second girl disclosed that Blodgett had assaulted her when she was between the ages of 4 and 5 years old at a home in Brady Township, Butler County.

Documents showed the girl told police she saw Blodgett watching pornography on his computer at the home. Police said the girl disclosed that Blodgett touched her inappropriately following this assault.

The first case was filed through District Judge Lewis Stoughton’s office in Chicora, the second was filed through District Judge Joseph Nash’s office in Slippery Rock.

In connection to the alleged assaults, court documents show Blodgett was also charged in Mercer County with felonies rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors and child endangerment.

Preliminary hearings have not yet been scheduled in either case.
