Points season ends Friday night at Lernerville

BUFFALO TWP — Six features remain in the 2023 Fab4 points racing season at Lernerville Speedway — and all six races will hit the track Friday night.

Besides the regular feature races involving the Sprint, Late Model, Modified and Pro Stock divisions, two previously rained out feature events will take place. The Sprints and Pro Stocks will run features prior to the night’s opening ceremonies.

AJ Flick (Sprints) and Tyler Dietz (Pro Stocks) have already clinched points championships. Rex King Jr. enters the night with a 23-point lead over Garrett Krummert in the Modified division.

Flick has now won seven Sprint points titles at Lernerville. Dietz racked up his fourth Pro Stocks crown.

Eyes will be on the Late Model feature on Friday as Michael Norris — with four feature wins at the Sarver oval this season — has a two-point lead on Dietz. Dietz has one Late Model feature win this season.

If Dietz can overtake Norris in the points battle, he will become only the third driver in Lernerville history — and the first since Blackie Watt in 1982 — to capture two points championships at the track in the same season.

The grandstands open at 5 p.m. Friday with hot laps scheduled for 6:15 p.m. The Sprints will run their make-up feature — from a July 28 rainout — at 7 p.m. The Pro Stocks had a feature washed out on Aug. 11 and will make that one up following the 7 p.m. Sprint feature.
