Harmony Weavers spin flax into linen Saturday
The Weavers of Harmony will host an event Saturday demonstrating an age-old process for turning flax into linen.
“We will be demonstrating the whole multi-step process from growing flax to breaking the stalks to removing the fiber to spinning fiber into thread — and finally weaving thread into linen cloth,” said Lisel Moser, with the Weavers of Harmony.
This free demonstration will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the borough’s Weavers Cabin, 234 Mercer Street. Visitors are encouraged to participate.
The Weavers of Harmony is dedicated to preserving the skills of spinning, weaving and basket making. It is affiliated with the Harmony Museum and offers classes and demonstrations throughout the year in an early 19th century log cabin in Harmony.
