York, Brown win in harness racing

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Madison Queen, owned and trained by Mitchell York of Cranberry Township, won a $10,900 Conditioned Pace during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 3-year-old filly has won four of seven lifetime starts.

Elsewhere on the card, Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove My Friend Kelly to victory in a $9,000 Conditioned Trot.

Mars hosts ‘Friday Night Lineup’

ADAMS TWP — Mars Area High School will host a “Friday Night Lineup” event at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Mars Athletic Complex.

The event is open to the entire Mars community and admission is free. Members of the Planets varsity football team will be on hand and performances by the Mars band, cheerleaders and dance team will take place.

Food trucks will provide refreshments available for purchase. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be held Monday.

Mars soccer teams aiding Plum victims

ADAMS TWP — The Mars varsity boys and girls soccer teams will collect donations to benefit families affected by the recent home explosion in Plum.

A collection box will be available at the boys soccer scrimmage vs. Seneca Valley at 10 a.m. Saturday and at the girls scrimmage vs. Latrobe at 1 p.m. at the Mars Athletic Complex.
