Richard Nalepa
Richard J. Nalepa, 85, of Richland Township, passed away on Sunday morning, Aug. 13, 2023, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born in Pittsburgh, on Jan. 7, 1938, he was the son of the late Irene Jacob Nalepa Lownie and Joseph Nalepa.
Richard was a police officer for the Richland Township Police Department for many years and belonged to the Fraternal Order of Police.
He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps during peacetime and was a member of the Mars VFW. Active in Masonic orders, he was a member of North Hills Lodge F&AM and the Scottish Rite and Syria Shrine. He also belonged to the Hillbilly Club.
Surviving are two daughters, Gretchen Baysek (Joe), of Mars and Aimee Whitehouse (Mark), of Andover, N.Y.; a son, Joseph Nalepa (Christine), of Rapid City, S.D.; his grandchildren, Joshua Klein (Joanne), Jillian and Tim Wolfe, Gabby Baysek, Aaron and Zachary Nalepa, Emily Whitehouse (Tom Halladay) and Micah Whitehouse; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Emmett Nalepa.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald M. Nalepa.
