State police investigating $40,000 check theft
State police are investigating a theft of a check worth $40,449 from an Evans City-based contractor.
GBL Construction wrote the check and mailed it to a vendor who reported that its money was not received, according to a news release issued by state police last week.
According to the police report, the check was later discovered to have been cashed in July at a local bank, with the name “Almbraya Thompson” written where the name of the vendor was originally printed.
