Arthur Lazar
Arthur G. Lazar passed peacefully at UPMC Passavant McCandless on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2023.
He was born in Clairton on Nov. 24, 1934. He was the son of John Lazar and the former Frances V. Conesky.
He worked as a caretaker for many years for H.H. Phillips families in Butler managing many properties in the Butler area. He worked in the furnace and sheet metal industries. Before retiring, he also worked for Armstrong Cement. The greatest vocation he had was that of a singer and musician. Blessed with a beautiful voice, he became a cantor and choir director at St. John’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Lyndora for 48 years. He also sang for many weddings and Flag Day ceremonies. With his wonderful friends in the Barbershop Harmony Society, he totally enjoyed harmonizing.
Family was so important. He deeply missed his lovely wife, Dorothy Onufrak Lazar, of 60 years whom he married in July 1954.
Arthur leaves behind his beautiful daughter, Frances Ann Lazar and son, Arthur J. Lazar; his brothers, Francis Lazar and Douglas (Virginia) Lazar; grandchildren, Molly Lazar, Andrew (Nicole) Lazar, Amanda (fiancée Mike) Lazar; great-grandchildren, Lucas and Elliott Lazar and Violet Lionti. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews from the Lazar and Onufrak and Jurysta families.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Lazar; brother, Jack Lazar and his wife, Sharleen; a daughter-in-law, Katherine; and sister-in-law, Phillis.
Rest in peace in your heavenly home, leaving great memories and songs in our hearts to your family and friends.
