Butler SUCCEED promotes National Day of Service
The Butler Slippery Rock University Center for Community Engagement, Empowerment and Development is aiding with two city initiatives Sept. 30.
The Butler chapter of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs will participate in the National Day of Service for the first time by helping Butler SUCCEED with its Homeless Bag Project, which seeks donations of clothing and hygiene items for people in need.
The Homeless Bag Project is seeking donations of travel-size toiletries; snack food items; ChapStick; hand warmers or foot warmers; sanitizer; large hoodies that are new or gently used; new winter hats, gloves and scarves; individually packaged fruit; garbage bags and Ziploc bags; and cases of water.
The donation drive will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Butler YWCA, 120 W. Cunningham St. The goal is to underscore that those in need are loved, supported and seen, and to change the stigma behind Butler’s homeless people.
