Richard George “Dick” English, 85, of Harrisville, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023.

He was born May 7, 1938, in New Castle, to Reno Harvey English and Ruth Maxine Patton English. He married Phyllis Geraldine Knight, on Nov. 7, 1959.

Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock. Dick served honorably in the U.S. Army.

Dick was a lifelong truck driver and worked for Cooper Brothers Trucking for 28 years and later Montgomery Block Works for seven years. He was a member of the Harrisville American Legion Post 852 and the I.O.O.F. Odd Fellows of Grove City for 56 years.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis at home; son, Keith R. English, of Hermitage; daughter, Konnie G. (Mark) Stoops, of Harrisville; granddaughter, Kristen Allison and great-granddaughter, Riley Allison, of Harrisville; two sisters, Shirley Templeton, of Slippery Rock and Sara (Leonard) Brooks, of Clarion; and brother, William (Maureen) English, of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Kenneth and Blair “Butch” English.

ENGLISH — Family of Richard George “Dick” English, who died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023, will receive friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle, St. Slippery Rock, and at the church from 10 a.m. Friday until the time of service at 11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Highland Presbyterian Church, 310 Franklin St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Jeff Curtis presiding.

Interment with military honors will be held after at Prairie Cemetery in Harrisville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
