Wolbert victorious in only Lernerville feature as rain washes out other 3

Rain put a damper on the races at Lernerville Speedway Friday night, washing out three of the four features on the slate, but Chas Wolbert finished in first place in the Big Block Modified feature with an impressive effort.

Wolbert had trouble in his heat race, failing to reach a redraw position and sitting him in the final row of the starting lineup. He worked his way into the top five just past the halfway point of the feature race.

Cautions and restarts then began to mount over the next six laps, the last of which saw Wolbert make his way around Rex King Jr. and then hold onto the lead for the remainder.

Points leader Garrett Krummert watched his edge in the standings evaporate, as a spin early on put him at the tail end of the field. He made it back to the seventh spot by the time the 25 laps were through.

Krummert's finish — coupled with King Jr.'s second place finish — helped swing the division points lead back to King, who now holds a seven point advantage over Krummert with three points nights remaining in the 2023 season.

The other three features will be made up on the dates that follow:

– Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stock Feature plus Fab4 racing, August 4

– 'Autism Awareness 50' $10,000-to-win, 50 lap feature for the Precise Racing Products Late Models plus Fab4 racing, August 11

– Peoples Natural Gas Sprint Car feature plus Fab4 racing (Championship Night), August 18
