Team Fishguy holding second annual organ donation awareness event
The Team Fishguy Transplant Foundation of Saxonburg is holding its second annual Family Fun Night to raise awareness of organ donation Wednesday, July 26, at Mars-Bethel Golf in Adams Township.
The free event, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m., includes a variety of activities, but the goal is to register people to become organ donors, said Jackie Hutz, Team Fishguy founder.
“Our goal Wednesday night is to get people to become organ donors and chat about the benefits about being a living donor,” Hutz said.
The event is part of Team Fishguy’s mission to support transplant patients, donors and their families, and to raise awareness of organ donation, she said.
Free activities include face painting by Lisa Busa, a presentation by Dragonfly Balloons of Harrisville, a Flour Power Cooking studio demonstration, caricature artist Ray Kuchinka, miniature golf, giveaways and music.
A $10,000 hole-in-one contest, a golf ball drop contest, basket raffle and 50/50 drawing are also planned. The hole-in-one contest on the par 3 hole No. 6 costs $10 to enter.
“If you get a hole-in-one on hole No. 6, its $10,000. We want someone to win that,” Hutz said.
Guests are asked to sign up for the hole in one contest and free miniature golf at teamfishguy.com.
“You don’t have to sign up in advance. We’re ready for everybody, but we prefer you sign up so we know how many to expect,” Hutz said.
About 125 people attended last year’s event and more than a dozen people signed up to become donors, she said. More people already have registered for this year’s event, and about 200 are expected to attend.
