Former Butler High School girls basketball coach Jonna Burke, now coaching at Shady Side Academy, has been suspended from coaching for a year by the WPIAL.

A 90-minute hearing by the WPIAL determined Burke was guilty of a recruiting violation by reaching out to a player and her parents who had been following her on Twitter.

Shady Side Academy is appealing the decision to the PIAA.

Burke picked up her 500th career win last season and has been a head coach at Butler, Bethel Park and Shady Suide Academy. She was 25-4 with SSA last season.
