Butler VA nurse receives DAISY Foundation Award
Marcie Baker, a registered nurse at the Butler VA Health Care System was honored Tuesday, July 18, by the DAISY Foundation with The DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses.
The nomination was submitted by a veteran and patient at the Butler VA.
“Few people come along in life that resonate with you,” the nomination read. “She is the ONLY nurse who has always made me feel like I am the most important person in her world. I really cannot say enough about her and think she is the most deserving person for this award! She is one of a kind!”
The DAISY Foundation was established by family members in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died in 1999 from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura.
In addition to the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, the foundation recognizes nurse-led teams, nurse leaders, nurses advancing health equity, nursing faculty and nursing students through other grants programs and its Lifetime Achievement in Nursing award.
