BUFFALO TWP — The annual Don Martin Memorial Silver Cup Sprint car race takes place Tuesday night at Lernerville Speedway.

The event features the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint cars. The Silver Cup is one of the richest events on both the Lernerville and All-Stars schedule, featuring a top prize equaling $25,000.

Tezos All-Stars points leader Tyler Courtney is unlikely to participate Tuesday as he suffered a back injury last Friday at Eldora Speedway. He is expected to make a complete recovery, though a relief driver may fill in for him at the Silver Cup.

Among the prominent all-stars expected to compete Tuesday are rising star Zeb Wise, former USAC Triple Crown champion Chris Windom, Sye Lynch and Tim Shaffer. Drivers from Central Pa. are expected to be on hand as well.

The All-Stars swept the podium at last year’s Silver Cup as Kyle Larson, Brent Marks and Justin Peck finished first through third, respectively.

The top local driver is AJ Flick, who has five feature wins at the Sarver oval so far this season and is hunting down his seventh career track championship.

Joining the All-Stars will be the Allegheny Sprint Tour 305 Sprint cars, who will be battling for a $2,000 top prize. Jeremy Kornbau took the checkered flag when the Allegheny Sprint Tour ran at Lernerville on May 26.

Ed Lynch Jr. (2002) is the only local driver to ever win the Silver Cup trace.

Grandstands open at 5 p.m. with hot laps slated for 6 p.m. Racing follows opening ceremonies at 7:25 p.m. Tickets are $35 for reserved, $30 for general admission.
