People gathered early Saturday morning, July 15, to run a race featuring hills, roads and nature trails.

The annual Community Chase 5K Run/Walk benefits the mission of Cranberry Township Community Chest, which includes improving the Cranberry community through projects, endowments and other initiatives.

The CTCC’s $1.2 million Project of the Year was announced to be the “Great Lawn.” The project will transform a parking lot at the municipal building into “a grand gathering space,” Bruce Mazzoni, CTCC president said Wednesday, July 12.

In addition to participation in the race, those who registered for Saturday’s Community Chase 5K Run/Walk also received a post-race meal from the Lion’s Club Pancake & Sausage Breakfast at the Jaycees Shelter in Community Park.
