Woman charged with assault of Butler County Prison officer
An Oklahoma woman has been charged with felony aggravated assault after an incident involving a corrections officer at the Butler County Prison last week.
Police said Karen Langkamp, 59, of Norman, Okla., was accused of flicking bodily fluids at a corrections officer during a strip search.
She was additionally charged with misdemeanors simple assault and reckless endangerment following the July 4 incident.
Court documents show Langkamp was placed in prison July 4 on separate charges of misdemeanor simple assault. During processing, Langkamp was subject to a strip search by a female corrections officer.
Police said Langkamp refused to remove her clothes and refused other processing requirements. She later threw her clothes at officers.
Throughout processing, Langkamp continually degraded the corrections officer, documents showed.
Langkamp then flicked bodily fluids at the corrections officer, hitting her in the face, police said.
Langkamp was placed in handcuffs and turned over to another officer.
She remained in Butler County Prison until July 7, when she posted her $25,000 bail.
Her preliminary hearing on the new charges before District Judge William Fullerton is scheduled for Aug. 21.
