Gertrude Mooney
Gertrude J. “Trudy” Mooney, 84, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, in the comfort of her home.
Born June 15, 1939, in Sewickley, she was the daughter of the late Glenn G. and Gertrude M. Vogel Ford.
Trudy was able to enjoy her life living on the property where she was raised as a child in Cranberry Township. She drove a school bus for 48 years and earned several safe driver awards. In her younger years, she rode Harley Davidson motorcycles and was a member of the Motor Maids of America. She also loved snowmobiling, boating and attending NASCAR races on the weekends with her late husband. They were avid NASCAR fans and traveled to many of the race tracks over the years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Woodlawn Chapter 164. In her aging years, she led a more relaxed life of watching western movies, the Pirates and QVC. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Mary Lou (Steve Williams Jr.) Bogdan; her granddaughters, Rachel (Jack Adam Jr.) Dumencic, Olivia (Adam) Seitz and Allison (Wendell) Frank; her sister, Katherine “Kay” (Earl) Schultz; her great-grandpuppies, Marty, Melli and Merlot; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Mooney, who passed away on Jan. 6, 2003; and her sister, Ruth Ann Ford.
MOONEY — Friends of Gertrude J. “Trudy” Mooney, who died Monday, July 3, 2023, will be received from noon until the time of the service at 6 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township, with Pastor Reid Moon officiating.
Trudy will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Friday at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Trudy’s honor to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (ocrahope.org).
