New events for a growing community

In Thursday’s edition of the Butler Eagle, we learned about an incoming new event brought to us by Butler Township: the Christmas in July Craft Show, which will feature a number of crafters and vendors from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. July 22 at Preston Park.

Everyone knows we love a good community event. To see new ones coming to the area is especially encouraging.

Niki Collins, the township’s executive administrative assistant, said Butler Township officials are trying to adapt to the growing number of families in the area. The Christmas in July Craft Show is one of several events the township is organizing for those families.

“We have more and more young families move into the township, and we are trying to welcome those new families and give them fun things to do,” Collins said.

We sincerely appreciate the effort to draw more people into the township and, by extension, the county. People want to live in places where they and their children have things to occupy their free time.

Christmas in July is set to cater to all ages, and will be accepting vendors likely until the Monday before the event.

Plans to try even more new events in the near future by the township is just the refreshing change that we need after the past few years. After all, we’re still working to rebuild our sense of togetherness.

We encourage more townships and boroughs to follow their example if they have the resources, and hope to see many people turn out on July 22.

Local vendors and crafters can contact Collins at ncollins@butlertwp.org to sign up to sell at the event.
