New library sign commemorates Prospect library’s 100th year

The Prospect Community Library recently had a new sign installed to better promote its weekly programs offered for children, teens and adults.

The Rotary Club of Portersville-Prospect partnered with the Prospect Community Library to update its outdoor signage, and commissioned Signs by Rick to install a lighted, weatherproofed double-sided sign and to refurbish the original woodcut to be used as a masthead.

The Rotary Club hosted an Elvis spring concert and a new fall concert and sold raffle tickets throughout the year to raise money for community programs. This year, the members voted to earmark some of the 2022-23 calendar year club fundraisers to supplement the donations to the library to help commemorate its 100th anniversary.

“Since our founding in 1922, the library has expanded to support two boroughs and three townships in the surrounding area — with an annual circulation exceeding 37,000 transactions,” said Shari Hunt, the library’s director. “We are pleased that the Rotary Club of Portersville-Prospect continues to help us advance our mission.”
