Marquis

John D. Marquis, 78, of Slippery Rock, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023.

He was born Dec. 30, 1944, in Berks County, Pa. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force then moved back to Pittsburgh and worked at U.S. Steel, then as a computer programmer later in life. John was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness most of his life. He enjoyed riding roller coasters, hiking, tennis, riding bikes and mostly spending quality time with his wife.

John is survived by his wife of 45 years, the love of his life, Patricia Marquis; his stepson and step-daughter-in-law, Gene and Peggy Stiles; and his step-granddaughter, Emma Stiles. He also is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and David Crain Sr.; his daughter, Jennifer Marquis; his eight grandchildren; and his seven great grandchildren. He also is survived by one brother, Richard “Gus” Marquis.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Marquis; and his brothers, Louis Marquis and William “Bill” Marquis.

MARQUIS — There will be no services for John D. Marquis, who died Friday, July 7, 2023, according to his wishes.
