Ramp detours begin in Muddy Creek Township starting July 19

Traffic redirected by Portersville Bridge project

Motorists traveling on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township will be redirected to new detours starting July 19, as construction crews work on the Portersville Bridge Project, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Crews from contractor J.F. Shea Construction, of Mount Pleasant, gradually have been rebuilding the Portersville Bridge since March. The reconstruction project is expected to be complete by June 2024 and cost $6.3 million.

The next phase of work will begin at 8 p.m. July 19 and will continue until 6 a.m. July 29, depending on weather.

Two-lane traffic will be maintained on East Portersville Road during the bridge renovation. Detour signs will be posted throughout the route.
