Republican party needs unity

Interesting changes. In two years, we went from one Butler County Republican Party to three. Now, we have two.

A recent Republican meeting was attended by about 60 people. Over 50 were in the "old party." Ten minutes into the meeting, the "new party" minority left, as the meeting went out of control. Insults to its chairman were heard. He turned back, confronted the attacker and left the room before the situation could escalate. He handled that well.

Pennsylvania Republicans have become similarly divided in many counties. Some criticize the national party for funding divisions between Trump and anti-Trump Republicans at state and county levels.

Those of us who have worked hard for party unity are tired of bickering, confusion and lawsuits. We are beginning to ask a simple question: Do we need big political parties whose profiteers only encourage that which enriches their most influential donors?

There is hope. President Trump is popular among Republicans and Independents who value faith, freedom and families. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is popular among the many Democrats and Independents who have and hold the same values.

If, by a miracle, the two of them would run on the same ticket, many of the problems inflicted upon us by big party politics would be solved.

Who would oppose that ticket?

The profiteers of big party politics.

Bill Adams,

Muddy Creek Township
