Kay Steffler

Steffler

Kay A. Steffler, 83, of Valencia, passed away on June 25, 2023.

Born to the late Harold and Doris Riddle on Sept. 21, 1939, in Butler, Kay was a beacon of strength and resilience, a quality she carried throughout her life. Her daughters say, “She was the light in the window of the house we grew up in,” a testament to her unwavering spirit and commitment to her loved ones. She also spoke her mind freely and was not afraid to eloquently tell you to keep it to yourself.

Kay was a woman of many talents. She was an avid reader, a creative painter and a skilled seamstress, but she was best known for her role as an office manager at North Pittsburgh Telephone Employees Federal Credit Union. Her dedication to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family and her community. She was a member of the Mars Chapter 271 Order of the Eastern Star, serving as past matron, past appointed grand officer and international grand representative. Kay was also a past queen of the Daughters of the Nile Airys Temple No. 48 and past mother adviser of Rainbow Girls in Mars.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray D. Steffler, whom she married on May 16, 1959, and who passed away on Feb. 16, 2019; and her brothers, Ken and David Riddle.

She leaves behind her loving daughters, Karen Santelmo and Michelle (Ed) Veltoven; and her adored grandchild, Costen Santelmo and his fiancée, Ava Del Signore. Her family will continue to honor her, and the Steffler family legacy, at Butler County Community College.
