Construction on Route 228 at Officer Edward Brooks Drive to affect Middlesex, Adams townships
Beginning July 10 through Aug. 8, residents of Middlesex and Adams townships can expect a detour at Officer Edward Brooks Drive, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Motorists will be guided by traffic control signs as drainage is built and a new road configuration is ready to be paved.
During this time, motorists should be aware of construction vehicles on Route 228.
According to PennDOT, motorists heading west on Route 228 should continue past Officer Edward Brooks Drive to the intersection of Three Degree Road/Route 228. Once reaching the intersection, motorists should make a right turn to head north on Three Degree Road before making another right onto Davidson Road to connect to Officer Edwards Brooks Drive. Motorists heading east on Route 228 should turn left at the intersection of Route 228/Three Degree Road and then turn right to go north on Davidson Road to connect to Officer Edwards Brooks Drive.
The long-term traffic control installation along Officer Edward Brooks Drive is part of the Three Degree Road Intersection Project, and includes turn lanes, side road improvements, the addition of service roads for access control, drainage and guide rail upgrades, signal replacement, signage and pavement markings, sidewalks, ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and a roundabout.
The $55.8 million project, implemented by contractor, Independence Excavating, is estimated to be completed in November 2026.
