Well worth the wait
BUFFALO TWP — They had to wait a day, but Jonathan Davenport and Tim McCreadie got what they came for Friday afternoon at Lernerville Speedway.
Firecracker 100 feature victories — and bidding for more.
Thursday night’s scheduled Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series features — a pair pf 25-lap races with $5,000 going to the winners — were rained out. Both features were held without weather issues Friday, Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., winning the first race and McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., claiming the second.
Davenport’s win was his series-leading fourth feature triumph of the season. He beat Saerver’s Michael Norris to the checkered flag with Brandon Overton of Evan, Ga., finishing third. Davenport had 24 wins in 81 races in the Series last season.
McCreadie picked up his first Series feature win of the season in the second race, beating Spencer Hughes of Meridien, Mi., to the finish line. Devin Moran of Dresden, Ohio, claimed third.
Both winners started up front and led throughout.
McCreadie is the defending Series points champion, winning 10 times and placing among the top five in 46 of 98 races in 2022. He entered action this weekend fourth in the points standings.
Ken Schaltenbrand of Sarver finished 10th in the first feature while Alex Ferree of Saxonburg claimed 10th in the second.
Two more 25-lap features were scheduled Friday night with t he Firecracker 100 —the 100-lap race paying $50,000 to the winner — slated for Saturday night.
Friday night’s race card was delayed by rain and final results were not available by press time. Overton posted the fastest time in Friday’s qualifying runs.
