From fleece to fancy
The Weavers of Harmony hosted a Fleece-to-Shawl demonstration Saturday, June 17, at the Harmony Museum’s Weavers Cabin, where people could see wool made into new items.
Teams of weavers showed off their spinning and weaving skills, and sheep were on-site at the event for petting and photos.
“This is a great opportunity to learn about fiber arts and see how clothing was once made,” Lisel Moser, of the Weavers of Harmony, said prior to the event. “Each team starts with a sheep’s fleece, which is spun into yarn, and then that yarn is woven into a finished shawl.”
After the event, all finished shawls were on display and are being sold in a silent auction that takes place through the end of June at Wunderbar Coffee and Crepes, 453 Mercer St., Harmony.
