Arthur Link
Arthur F. Link, 99, of Ridgeville passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Grove Manor.
Born on March 5, 1924, he was the last remaining son of the late Henry and Mary McDeavitt Link, with eight brothers going before him. Art had many funny stories to tell about growing up on the family farm in Portersville, which is now Moraine State Park.
On June 15, 1948, he married Doretha Stevens Link. They had a wonderful life together and celebrated 73 years of marriage before her passing on Sept. 1, 2021.
Art was the oldest living member of the Ridgeville United Methodist Church. He was known for his strong work ethic and worked two jobs for many years cutting fence posts for various farmers where he knew the name of every tree in the woods. He also retired from Cooper Bessemer in Grove City after having worked there for 35 years. Art was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and trap. He was an accomplished turkey hunter having achieved a double Grand Slam Award. He was known as “Papa Turkey” to his great-grandchildren. His love of farming never left him as he had a big garden every year and canned everything. Art was a good cook and made the best vegetable soup ever.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Sandy (Norman) Weber of Nashville, Sally McGallis of Ridgeville, and Valerie (Joe) Grossman of Slippery Rock; one son, Arthur (Norma) Link Jr. of Slippery Rock; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Mike) Christie, Matt (Mandy) Grossman, Michael McGallis, Kara McGallis, and Artie (Kelsey) Link III; and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas (Bethany) and Alex Christie and Kendall, Ashton and Truman Grossman. He is also survived by his four sisters, Peg Arblaster, Janet (Rich) Fleeger, Martha Smith and Dottie Chuba; and several nieces and nephews.
Art was preceded in death by his wife, Doretha; his brothers, Dean, Clayton, Victor, Clair, Raymond, David, Norman and Vernon Link; and two sisters, Mid Stewart and Mary Shinsky.
Art’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the care he received at Grove Manor and for the kindness showed him and his family.
