Fleece-to-Shawl demo set for Harmony

Live sheep for petting and photos will be part of the Weavers of Harmony Fleece-to-Shawl demonstration on Saturday, June 17, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Harmony Museum’s Weavers Cabin, 245 Mercer St., Harmony. Submitted photo

The Weavers of Harmony is sponsoring a Fleece-to-Shawl demonstration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at the Harmony Museum’s Weavers Cabin, 245 Mercer St., Harmony.

This event is weather-permitting, as three different teams plan to show off their spinning and weaving skills with sheep on-site for petting and photos.

After the event, all finished shawls will be on display and available for sale by silent auction through the end of June at Wunderbar Coffee and Crepes, 453 Mercer St., Harmony.

“This is a great opportunity to learn about fiber arts and see how clothing was once made,” Lisel Moser, of the Weavers of Harmony, said. “Each team starts with a sheep’s fleece. which is spun into yarn, and then that yarn is woven into a finished shawl.”

This event is free to the public.
