Laura Ann Lane McCants (Lane) of Brackenridge passed away in her sleep Friday, May 26, 2023. She would have celebrated her 59th birthday on June 6.

Laura was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Butler County. She was active in theater, softball and rifle club at Seneca Valley Senior High School, where she graduated in 1982. She was a card-carrying member of the United Steelworkers of America and a registered, active voter.

Laura attended Penn State briefly and graduated from Greensboro College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in business communications.

It was at Greensboro College that Laura met Heather, the love of her life and her spouse for over 25 years. Laura and Heather had many adventures together, including moving from North Carolina to Washington and back, getting married three times, raising two beautiful children, Alex and Zoe, and navigating the ups and downs of life, love, and marriage.

Laura was kind and generous, extremely caring, and intuitively conscious of the needs of others. She was an adoring wife, committed mother and loyal provider. She had a sharp mind and a hilarious sense of humor. Laura enjoyed spending time with her wife and kids, hanging out with friends, playing pool, strumming guitar, hunting for fossils, looking up at the stars, and sitting around the campfire. She was a dear and devoted friend, wife, daughter and mother. She leaves behind a slew of people who loved her.

MCCANTS — A private celebration of life for Laura Ann LaneMcCants (Lane), who died Friday, May 26, 2023, will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 23. Anyone can view livestream at youtube.com/@hezmesha.

Laura’s cremains will stay with her beloved Heather, Alex and Zoe in the family home.
