Kudos to John Enrietto for writing about two of the finest people from Butler County.

Van and Jeanne Smith used their golf course as a platform to help spread God’s kingdom. Most golfers know about their rules at their course and know they followed the Golden Rule.

Van was a teacher before retiring to finish his back nine. He literally worked from dawn to dusk most days. He and his bulldozer.

Jeanne worked in the Clubhouse, even more hours, greeting patrons with her infectious smile, and offering her health tips. She then did her bookwork after dark.

Bottom line, it was all about making it affordable to enjoy golf on a beautiful course.

Those of us who knew them know that there are two new stars up in heaven.
