77-year-old man charged with assaulting Butler hospital employee

A 77-year-old man was accused of inappropriately touching an employee at Butler Memorial Hospital who was caring for him, according to charges filed Thursday, June 1.

Harold C. Rader, of Butler, was charged with misdemeanor indecent assault and summary harassment for an incident that occurred in March.

The hospital employee told officers Rader was a patient she was caring for in the early morning hours of March 2.

Police said the employee asked Rader to reposition himself while attempting to take a sample of his blood, and Rader made a comment toward her that was sexual in nature.

While placing a tourniquet on his arm, the employee told police Rader touched her inappropriately. The affidavit said she then slammed his arm on the bed and moved away from him.

Rader continued making sexual remarks to the employee while she remained in the room, police said.

According to documents, the employee said Rader attempted to touch her inappropriately a second time, but she left the room before he could.

Officers confirmed that Rader had been a patient of the employee’s at the time of the reported incident.

A preliminary hearing for Rader is scheduled July 27 before District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.
