Superload moving through Butler County Thursday

Motorists should be advised that on the morning of Thursday, June 1, a “superload” will be traveling through a large swath of Western Pennsylvania, including both Butler and Clarion counties, on its way from Allegheny County to Columbiana, Ohio.

Although there is no official word on what is in the superload, it is said to be 136 feet long and weigh 150 tons and will be transported by Southern Pines Trucking of Aliquippa.

It will take two lanes of traffic to transport the load, which will result in a rolling slowdown and traffic delays.

The superload will travel east on Route 22 to Route 119 North in Indiana County, then from Route 436 North to Route 36 North to Route 322 West to Interstate 80 West in Jefferson County, staying on I-80 for its trip through Clarion, Butler, Venango and Mercer counties.

Motorists should plan accordingly, as the superload will travel about 25-30 mph during its journey.
