Charles Kenneth Burke, 92, of Queenstown Road, Karns City, passed away late Tuesday evening, May 30, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot while in the company of his loving wife and Judy.

Charles Kenneth was born in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, on May 9, 1931. He was the son of the late Daniel F. and Doretha McIntyre Burke.

Ken was of the Roman Catholic faith, and in his earlier years had attended St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School and was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Koppers in Petrolia following 46 years of service.

Ken enjoyed horses, gun collecting, riding his motorcycle, water skiing and boating, and square dancing.

Surviving is his wife, Kathryn Burke, whom he married on Sept. 8, 1982. Also surviving are five daughters, Deborah E. Stoops and her husband, Ronald, of Summersville, Mo., Connie Burke and Patricia D. Thompson, both of Willow Springs, Mo., Brenda C. Lowell and her husband, Darryl, of Summersville, Mo., and Saundra J. Wake and her husband, Lealin, of Willow Springs, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Dawn M. Sunderland and her husband, Pete, and Lori Kitting and her husband, Mike, all of McVeytown; a sister, Alice Jean Crisman and her husband, Richard, of Parker; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild, as well as a number of nieces and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and his children’s mother, Ruth Mooney Burke; a daughter, Valorie Hawkins; a brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Marlene Burke; his sister and brother-in-law, Rose Marie and Bradley Dunkle; and a grandson, David Kammerdiner Jr.

BURKE — Friends of Charles Kenneth Burke, who died Tuesday, May 30, 2023, will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at HILE FUNERAL HOME of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.

A service outside of Mass will follow from the funeral home at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Victor Baguna, pastor of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Brady’s Bend.

Military honors will be accorded by members of the Brady’s Bend and Chicora American Legion Posts at the funeral home.
