Victory over mental health, addiction to be celebrated
A collection of stories written by those who experienced substance abuse and mental illness issues and emerged victorious will be shared from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Butler SUCCEED, 150 N. Main St., Butler.
A public reading, book signing and celebration of the authors in “Rediscovering Your Story” will capture the challenges along the path to recovery, according to the Institute for Nonprofit Leadership at Slippery Rock University.
The book is the result of a creative writing initiative developed by an SRU English professor and his students to record the stories of those who have lived an experience with mental health or addiction issues.
Proceeds from the book’s sale will support future Recovering Life initiatives at the Institute.
Copies of the book and access to the authors will be available at the event.
