Ralph Thomas Lang, 84, of Lady Lake, Fla., a former Butler resident, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Tom was born on Dec. 17, 1938, in Butler, and was the son of the late Ralph and Mary Fiscus Lang.

He graduated from Butler High School in June of 1956.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Niggel Lang, to whom he was married for 62 years; his four daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Lee McClean of Butler, Melissa (Thomas) Shaw of Oxford, Fla., Sharon (Thomas) Zoelle of Renfrew and Shelly Lang of Charlotte, N.C.; his grandchildren, Brittany McClean of Portersville, Stephanie (Nathan) Nickerson of Keyser, W.Va., Mitchell (Chelsea) Shaw of Lower Burrell, Cole Shaw of Gainesville, Fla., and Delaney Shaw of Oxford, Fla., and Kirstie Zoelle, Julia Zoelle and Adam Zoelle of Renfrew; and his great-grandchildren, Parker Hemphill of Portersville and Phoenix and Indy Nickerson of Keyser, W.Va.

He also is survived by his sister, Joan (John) Boozel of Renfrew; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary “Cathy” (William) Fair; and a grandson, Thomas Richard Zoelle II.

Tom was a member of St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church for more than 45 years, before retiring to Florida. He served as a Eucharistic minister, an usher, a CCD teacher and was in the Men’s Club. He was proud of fully owning Lang’s Upholstering Shop in Butler and Sports & Spirits in Evans City.

He was an avid Steelers and NASCAR fan, and he thoroughly enjoyed reading, camping, hunting and fishing. He volunteered time with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for over 25 years. One of his passions was music, He played several instruments and was in a band for years.

His love of people and his faith always shined brightly. He loved practical jokes, cooking and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He often told people that he was a millionaire, because of the love and many blessings he received from above.

LANG — A Mass in honor of Ralph Thomas Lang, who died Friday, May 5, 2023, will be said at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, July 16, 2023, at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, All Saints Parish, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler.

In lieu of flowers, food donations are requested for St. Vincent de Paul Society, 146 N. Monroe Street, Butler.
