Youth bowling tourney set
Family Bowlaway in Butler will host the Pepsi Youth Championship Tournament this weekend. Included will be over 400 bowlers ages 7 to 18 who each qualified for the event in leagues across Pennsylvania.
Bowling will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and run through Sunday.
Trainers, drivers win in harness racing
WASHINGTON, Pa. — Lady Newton scored her second straight victory for trainer Bll Bercury and owner Renee Bercury of Slippery Rock during harness racing action Thursday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
The 5-year-old mare captured a $12,100 Conditioned Pace.
In other action, Brady Brown of Slippery Rock drove Skyline to victory against 19-1 odds in a $9,000 Conditioned Pace. Brown teamed with trainer Steve Schoeffel of Evans City for another win with Big Baller Beane in a $10,900 Conditioned Trot.
Virginia and Kathy Schoeffel, both of Evans City, own the 3-year-old gelding.
Brown drove Rojo Man to victory Friday against 18-1 odds to win a $12,100 Conditioned Trot.
SV grad McNany keys Behrend win
ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate Jocelyn McNany had three RBI for Penn State Behrend in a 10-2 AMCC softball tournament win over La Roche.
The top-seeded Lions faced No. 2 Mount Aloysius in the next round, winning 2-0 to come within one victory of their third straight league title.
KC grad Kamenski gets 2nd in hurdles
MEADVILLE — Karns City graduate and Westminster College junior Anthony Kamenski placed second in the 400-meter hurdles at the Marty Goldberg Gator Invitational Thursday at Allegheny College.
Kamenski ran the event in 55.39 seconds.
