Sarver man accused of assaulting teenage girl
State police accused a Sarver man of inappropriately touching a 14-year-old girl on multiple occasions, according to documents filed Thursday.
George R. Shirey, 41, was charged with felony corruption of minors and misdemeanor indecent assault for incidents that occurred in 2022.
Kittanning state police said they received report of the assault in March 2023. Police said Shirey told officers on a drive from Erie to Butler County that he touched the girl’s private parts because he had the “impression she would have enjoyed it.”
The incident occurred on Route 422 in Prospect around Thanksgiving, documents showed.
The investigation was passed to state police given the location of the alleged assault. The girl was interviewed at Butler County Children’s Advocacy Center.
She related that Shirey had touched her inappropriately twice during the car ride and that she was uncomfortable and didn’t say anything, documents showed.
Police said the girl reported Shirey had also grabbed her buttocks and called her attractive several times.
Police said Shirey confessed to the allegations and told police he didn’t want to do it again, saying, “It wasn’t fun.”
A preliminary hearing had not been scheduled as of Friday.
