SRU’s Trueman Player of Year
LOCK HAVEN — Slippery Rock University senior and North Alleheny graduate Luke Trueman has been named PSAC West Baseball Athlete of the Year.
Trueman hit .381 — fifth in the PSAC — with 27 runs scored, 35 RBI and league-tying bests of 27 doubles and 11 home runs. On the mound, his earned run average of 1.98 was second-lowest in the league. He was 7-3 with six complete games, two shutouts and 69 strikeouts.
Also making PSAC West first team was Freeport graduate and Mercyhurst junior pitcher Jarrett Heilman. Making second team were Butler graduate and California (Pa.) catcher Justin Stewart, Seneca Valley graduate and Seton Hill junior pitcher Jon McCullough and SRU senior outfielder Alex Robenolt.
SRU’s Hyatt gets field athlete honor
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior Dan Hyatt has been PSAC Male Field Athlete of the Week.
Hyatt won the pole vault at the SRU Last Chance Meet with the second-best clearance of his career at 4.80 meters. It was just shy of his careeer-best of 4.82 meters.
SR graduate Hart named All-PAC
TRAFFORD — Slippery Rock High School graduate and Geneva College junior first baseman Julia Hart has been named first team All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference in softball.
Karns City graduate and Chatham senior catcher Mackenzie Dunn has been named honorable mention.
