Jacob Clinton Atwell, 72, of Renfrew, passed away on May 8, 2023, at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center-University Drive Campus in Pittsburgh.

He was born on Jan. 6, 1951, in Butler, and was the son of the late J. Clinton and Catherine N. “Casey” (Nicholas) Atwell.

Jake attended Butler High School and graduated from Greenbrier Military School. He was a Vietnam U.S. Marine veteran.

He worked at Logan Candy Company for 23 years, worked for 13 years at Mikan Motors, and most recently retired from Butler Farm Market.

Jake enjoyed bowling, golfing and riding motorcycles, on which he traveled over 1,000 miles.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Donna F. (Sloan) Atwell of Renfrew; his sister, Catherine (Ric) Gresh of Irvine, Calif.; his two nephews, Tyler and Jamie Gresh; and one niece, Michel Hansotte.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

ATWELL — Friends of Jacob Clinton Atwell, who died Monday, May 8, 2023, will be received from noon until the time of service at 3 p.m. Friday at YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Alyce Weaver Dunn officiating.

Military honors will follow the service.

Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to any veteran organization of the donor’s choice.
