North Catholic advanced to the WPIAL Class 2A boys tennis semifinals with a 3-2 victory over Valley on Monday.

The fifth-seeded Trojans play top-seeded Sewickley Academy at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shady Side Academy. The winner plays the Winchester Thurston-Chartiers Valley survivor for the team championship on Wednesday.

Baseball

Hampton 9, Knoch 4 — Hampton scored six runs in the first two innings and won this game despite being out-hit, 9-7. Brady Wozniak led Knoch with a triple, single and RBI.

Mason Phillips had two singles and an RBI, Ryan. McCurdy a double, single and two runs scored.

Softball

Mars slipped to 6-9 overall, 4-6 in section play, with an 11-0 loss to West Allegheny. The Planets play Thursday at Seneca Valley.

West Allegheny (17-1) has won eight straight games.

Track and Field

Union/A-C Valley’s boys won all three jumping events and all three throwing events in a 75-71 win over North Clarion.

The Wolves prevailed in the girls meet, 75-65, but Evie Bliss broke Union’s school record in the javelin with a throw of 151 feet, 3 inches.
