Gardening class to begin Monday
Community Partnership and Penn State Master Gardeners will offer Seed to Supper, a five-week gardening class that teaches participants how to start and maintain their own backyard garden.
Classes will be at 6 p.m. Mondays, from May 8 to June 12. The class series covers soil preparation, seed starting, pest management, ongoing plant care and harvesting. Participants are provided with a core set of basic gardening tools as part of the class series.
“We have run this program for the past three years with varying class sizes,” Nick Leturgey, program manager for Community Partnership, said. “We are excited this year to be able to open the program to the public while still providing sponsorships for low-income community members.”
Individuals and families with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines are eligible to take the class with a scholarship, and those with incomes above 200% of the federal poverty guidelines can take the course for an $80 registration fee.
Interested individuals and families can call Community Partnership at 724-766-9029 to receive an application or make an appointment to sign up.
