Diplomas to be conferred this weekend
Slippery Rock University’s spring commencement ceremonies will be held on Friday and Saturday at Morrow Field House.
A total of 1,685 students are eligible to don the cap and gown in four ceremonies.
Each graduate is entitled to four electronic guest tickets to the event, but all ceremonies will be livestreamed on sru.edu and at Russell Wright Alumni House on Friday, and at Smith Student Center Theater and the Advanced Technology Science Auditorium on Saturday.
Ceremonies will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday for graduate studies; 9 a.m. on Saturday for the College of Business; noon Saturday for the Colleges of Education, Liberal Arts and Rock Life; and 3 p.m. Saturday for the Colleges of Health Professions and Engineering and Science.
Elizabeth Friel, an accounting major from Butler, will serve as one of four flag bearers at graduation, and Abigayle Pritchard, an early childhood and special education major from Butler, will be among the six student marshals.
Jackson Novak, a homeland security major from Slippery Rock, will be among the eight graduates who will be recognized at their respective ceremonies for their commissioning as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army ROTC.
Other students from Butler County who are eligible for graduation are Ryan Davis and Jessica Fischer, both of Harrisville.
