As a woman in Cranberry Township, I want to emphasize how nice it is having a woman on the board of supervisors.

There has only been one woman ever elected as supervisor in the 200-plus year history of Cranberry Township. It is hard to believe in this day and age that we have not had more diversity on the board.

Karen Newpol competed for the partial term position when Dick Hadley passed away last year. She was up against 28 other candidates who submitted their resumes and she won.

Her community involvement in CTCC, Rotary, Elks, and Community Days were some of the volunteering experiences she brought to the table. She was (and is) the best qualified candidate to finish the remaining four-year term of Supervisor Hadley.
