Butler boys still unbeaten

Owen Dressler won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs as Butler’s boys track and field team remained undefeated with victories over Pine-Richland (92-58) and Shaler (146-4) on Wednesday.

The Golden Tornado are now 6-0 on the season.

In the girls meet, Madi McGarrah won the 800 and was on the winning 1,600 relay team for the Tornado (4-2), who defeated Shaler 107-43, but fell to Pine-Richland, 77-73.

Micah Rupp earned first place in the long and triple jumps to help Karns City’s boys defeat Cranberry, 111-35.

Softball

Seneca Valley continued its impressive season with a 7-0 victory over Baldwin.

Bella Gross and Lexie Hames both drilled solo home runs. Hames earned the pitching win with 18 strikeouts while allowing just one hit.

Gross had three hits for the Raiders (8-1, 7-1), Emry Rice, Mia Ryan and Neve Miller each had two.

A-C Valley/Union 16, Clarion 1 — In a game played in Sligo, the Falcon Knights scored 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning to tame the Bobcats.

Mackenzie Parks not only earned the pitching win, she smacked a 3-run home run and finished the game with four RBI.

Bella Ielase had two hits and scored three times for the Falcon Knights (6-3) and Alivya Hartzell singled, doubled and drove in two runs.

Baseball

Charlie Bickel’s complete game featured just one run allowed on three hits in Mars’ 10-1 victory over New Castle.

Benji Astbury had two doubles, two runs scored and four RBI for the Planets (6-5, 3-3), who snapped a three-game losing skid.

Knoch 3, North Catholic 2 — Braden Kriley worked 2.1 scoreless innings late to earn the win for the Knights (3-9, 2-4).

Knoch’s designated hitter, Sean Morgan, went 3-for-3 with a run scored.

North Catholic fell to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in section play.
