Slippery Rock boys track and field improves to 4-0

Mars senior Jacob Thompson took first place in the 200 meters at the Tri-State Track Coaches Association meet Saturday at West Mifflin. His time was 22.05 seconds. The Planets’ 4x400 meter relay team of Dominico D’Angelo, Hayden Mayer, Jeremy Stevenson and Thompson took second place in 3:26.79.

On the girls side, sophomore Morgan Duker took third place in the 400 meters in 59.29 seconds. The 4x800 meter relay team of Lexi Hallock, Laney Bowes, Madeline George and Riley Mayer placed fifth in 10:34.99.

Slippery Rock (boys) 96.5, Hickory 48.5 — Tyler Arblaster won the 400-meter run and the 200-meter dash, along with being part of the winning 1,600-meter relay, as the Rockets improved to 4-0 at this road dual meet.

Girls Lacrosse

Alaina Fields netted four goals Monday night as Knoch’s girls lacrosse team cruised to a 15-1 victory over Greensburg Salem.

Paige Rodgers and Grace Gilmore added three goals each for the Knights while Gretchen Foehringer added two. Sydney Mullen, Sarah Fleishner and Avery Adams scored goals as well.

Mars 21, North Catholic 4 — No other details were provided as the Planets downed the Trojanettes.

Boys Volleyball

Mars dropped the first set against Gateway Tuesday night by a 25-20 score, then won the next two — 25-23 and 25-16 — before the Gators forced a fifth set with a 25-23 fourth-set victory. The Planets took the match with a 15-8 win in the deciding moments.
