Mars lacrosse realizes milestones

ADAMS TWP — Three Mars Area High School lacrosse players realized significant milestones with the Planets recently.

Senior Charlotte Stamper scored her 150th career goal in an 11-8 girls win over Blackhawk. She scored three goals in the victory.

Senior Jack Dunham scored his 100th career goal in the boys’ 21-2 triumph over Knoch. He scored three goals in the contest, the third being his 100th.

Senior Kyle McEwen scored his 100th career point in the boys’ 18-0 shutout of Freeport. He scored nine goals in the game.

Brown gets win in series opener

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove True Seelster to victory in the first leg of the Ruby Cook Memorial during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Elsewhere on the card, Lady Newton — trained by Bill Bercury and owned by Renee Bercury of Slippery Rock — collected a win in a $12,100 Conditioned Pace. Cranberry Township’s Ashley Pegher saw two horses she owns won: Fashion’s Way in a $9,000 Conditioned Pace and Party Mode, a 3-year-old filly.

Moniteau grad Patton gets PAC honor

TRAFFORD — Westminster College senior and Moniteau graduate Jacob Patton has been named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Patton won the 400-meter hurdles was was second in the 110-hurdles at the Grove City College Mini-Invitational. He also anchored the winning 4x400 meter relay.
